Why we built NotesQR: The unified P2P stack for web, app, CLI & AI

Hey Product Hunt!

We are super excited to launch NotesQR today!

While P2P file sharing has been around for a while, most existing tools force you to choose between LAN-only limits (like LocalSend or Snapdrop), browser-only rooms (like PairDrop or ShareDrop), or CLI-only developer workflows (like croc or Magic Wormhole).

CLI + MCP file handoff for agents (same rooms as the browser)

Same WebRTC rooms as notesqr.com from the terminal:

npx -y github:NotesQR/notesqr-share send ./file.pdf --once

Also folders, and MCP tools for agents. Looking for feedback from people wiring this into scripts/CI/agent loops.

What would make this useful in your setup?

When is "sender must stay online" actually a feature?

Most file tools assume you upload and leave. NotesQR does the opposite on purpose: both peers online, bytes peer-to-peer, nothing sitting in our storage afterward.

Curious where that model wins for you (legal docs, builds, client handoffs, agent workflows) and where it fails.

Would you trade "download later" for "no cloud copy"?
