About
Historically, college athletes were not allowed to profit from their name, image, or likeness (NIL), leaving them unable to capitalize on their brands. In response to growing demands for greater fairness, competitive equity, and legal challenges, the NCAA reformed its policies in 2021 to permit student-athletes to earn income from NIL activities. The association continued to evolve, and in 2025, it lifted the ban on negotiating NIL deals before university enrollment, marking another significant milestone for athletes’ rights. Even before these changes, two college athletes and an enthusiastic sports fan identified a unique opportunity. In 2020, they developed YOKE, the technology that powers the NIL Club platform.
