Professor of NLP at the University of Cambridge with over 30 years in AI, including 16 years in Japan leading the NLP lab at the National Institute of Informatics. My research spans LLM evaluation, uncertainty, reasoning, and AI safety, with over 200 published papers. I co-founded Trismik, a Cambridge spinout applying scientific methods to LLM evaluation. We're launching QuickCompare for faster, evidence-based model decisions by comparing models on customer's own data across cost, speed, and task performance.
