Often a bad experience during the day can linger , turning the entire day into a bad one. In most cases, having a bad day will effect the night's sleep especially if resolution & closure can't be had. We sought to use cognitive methods to handle the thoughts brought on by a momentary bad experience as soon as they happen with the goal of salvaging the rest of the day and night.
