About

I’m Maik Klotz, a German fintech and payments nerd and LinkedIn Top Voice who built simplebanking to give people a clearer, calmer view of their money. Directly from the Mac menu bar, powered by secure European open banking infrastructure (YAXI) With simplebanking I turn messy banking data into a minimalist experience: no new account, no extra portal, just live balance, transactions, spending heatmaps and subscription insights where you already work – on your desktop. I deliberately design against feature bloat: most banking apps want you to do more, I want you to actually realize what comes in, what goes out, and what stays.

simplebanking 2.0 - All your German & EU bank balances, right in your menu bar

simplebanking shows your bank balance right in your Mac menu bar. Built for Germany and the EU. It connects to nearly all banks in Germany plus a growing list of EU banks across 8 countries (Austria, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, UK), secured by YAXI's regulated Open Banking (read-only access). PayPal supported too. ✨ Outstanding: MoneyMood balance colors, spending heatmap, a live menu bar widget, full theme support, and open source (MIT licensed) on GitHub

RetroMac - Turn your Mac into a time machine.

RetroMac wraps your everyday macOS in the look and feel of classic computers: authentic CRT shaders over your whole screen, themed docks and desktops (Mac OS 9, Windows XP/98, BeOS, Amiga…), retro widgets and games, and a virtual webcam that pipes the CRT look into Zoom, Meet or Teams. Open source, free to use with an optional one-time upgrade for extra presets and webcam support.
