Refocus Digital Academy — “Making Human Workers Great Again”? Really?
Refocus claims:
“Refocus helps people around the globe learn new skills from scratch and land their first job in IT. With the emergence of AI, our mission is to make human workers great again. We give people a chance to master a new profession. We help them Refocus.”
-Sounds inspiring, right? Too bad the reality is the complete opposite.
I enrolled in Refocus Digital Academy, and it turned out to be a fraudulent online academy taking advantage of Filipinos who want to grow in the Data Analyst career. They slowly reduced mentor sessions, then completely shut down the student help center in 2022. And despite suspending operations, we’re still paying our tuition through BillEase -I’m still paying mine up to this year, 2025. That’s two long years of debt for a course that never delivered.
They promised mentorship and job support, but none of it happened. Refund requests were ignored. According to Tech in Asia
, Refocus already suspended its PH operations after numerous complaints -yet students are still being charged every month.
If this is what they call “helping people Refocus,” then congratulations -they’ve successfully refocused our wallets into never-ending payments for nothing.
What needs improvement
They should stop collecting payments from students after shutting down operations, restore mentorship and student support, and issue refunds. Refocus must also be transparent about their current status and stop misleading Filipinos who only wanted real Data Analyst training.
vs Alternatives
I chose Refocus because their ads promised real mentorship, a job guarantee, and a clear path to becoming a Data Analyst. It sounded trustworthy and affordable with the BillEase installment plan. Sadly, it turned out to be misleading - mentorship stopped, support vanished, and I’m still paying tuition in 2025 for a course that no longer exists.
