I’m generally very disappointed with CX Genie.
On paper, CX Genie is fantastic and seemed to perfectly meet my needs, even going beyond them.
I chose the "Unlimited AI knowledge updates" plan because I had quite a bit of data to train the AI. But then, it was a disaster.
I discovered that CX Genie has a "trick" to block the knowledge base, making it seem like it’s actually not unlimited at all.
They’ve implemented a system that doesn’t allow bulk imports, only one item at a time.
For example: You can add URLs as a knowledge base, but you have to add them one by one. This makes it nearly impossible to enrich the data based on your site. The same applies to all types of data... And what allows bulk import, like the database, ultimately doesn’t allow it to be added to the AI bot.
Since the AI bot is therefore unusable, the only thing left is a 2000s-style bot with a workflow and a set of predefined questions and answers. It’s a decent predefined bot, but in 2025, I wasn’t expecting this, and it’s not what I was looking for. Users really hate bots with predefined questions like a voicemail system.
I’m therefore very disappointed. I could have rated it 2 out of 5, but I’m giving it 1 because I feel misled by CX Genie’s emphasis on the AI, which is ultimately so restricted that it’s useless. Especially since competitors don’t use these kinds of restriction techniques.
What needs improvement
no bulk import (1)limited AI knowledge updates (1)predefined questions (1)
