I personally use this website a lot, however there are a ton of issues that are either annoying, or just terrible. First Issue: There is indeed a lot of pornographic images depicting child/young looking characters in user posted images. However, you can report "realistic" underage content since that goes against their TOS but anything that is anime/cartoonish are not? I don't know why that is the case as it still is depicting underage characters in sexual situations or nude. Second issue: Bots, Lots and Lots of bots! My goodness, if I could get a nickel for each user I have blocked/hidden I would live comfortably in the current economy. There are indeed a lot of members with usernames like "asd123494" etc. And there are plenty of buzz harvesting accounts that are just there to post a lot of images just to get buzz. This is annoying since I like to look at user image posts to see what a particular models does. But sometimes images are not even related to the model or are "Cross Posts" linking to another lora so it isn't indicative to what that lora/model does. On a side-note, there really should be a limit to how many models can be uploaded by one user. There are some members that post 10-20 models a day and it floods the model pages with their content. I am sure they are either Buzz farming or just uploading a ton of low quality models. It's annoying for sure, but at least you can block that user. Third Issue: Buzz earned is really low, and has very little value other than cosmetics which I might add are terribly expensive. Feels extremely grindy and more inline with a MMORPG with how little you get. I could care less to even bother with it since I am only using the website to download models, and any models that are "early-access" and require buzz I ignore. There is usually a 7-day wait until it is free to download, and I am quite content waiting for that timer. I won't spend what little buzz I get on a model that may not even work or is poorly trained. Unless there is some form of quality control from civitai, I won't use that feature. Fourth Issue: While Civitai does offer online image generation and model training, it is very lackluster. I have tested it versus running training on my local machine with the same exact dataset and parameters and the results are not as good as doing it locally. Generating images online are sub-par as well. If you can run A1111 locally, I would recommend it over the website, you don't need buzz, there are more features, and the quality of the images is miles better than Civitai's website generator. Heck I would even prefer MidJourney before I would consider Civitai's generator. TLDR: * Civitai's website is best used as a model database for downloading models that are made by creators. Like the model, tip them directly not with buzz. * Too much porn/child porn * Generators/model creator is terrible * Cash-grabby with their Buzz gimmick. (yes it's a gimmick) * Too many bots, admins doing nothing to filter those accounts.
