Maker’s Corner: Hitting 4th Product of the Day as a Indie Hacker with NO audience

Hi everyone! Please welcome today's Maker's Corner feature, @kian_karazmoudeh , Founder of @YoinkUI

Feel free to chime in below in the comments with questions on his product or journey or anything else that comes to mind!

  1. Tell us about what your product is and what makes it special?

YoinkUI lets you copy any UI component from any web page and converts it to react + tailwind so you can use it in your own projects. What makes us unique is It doesn't rely on AI to "try" and replicate the UI, it gets the styles directly.

  2. What inspired you to build your product? What problem were you trying to solve when you built it? Has that evolved?

I ve made many AI wrappers in my indie hacking journey, and most of them flopped hard. This month I launched YoinkUI to do just one simple thing. The crazy part is that sooo many people actually loved the idea and resonated with the pain of dealing with AI slop.

As a solo developer, I found myself spending way too much time focusing on UI, rather than creating features that actually matter. Everytime I tried to ask AI, it came up with generic and boring styles. So I thought to myself, I wish I could just take an existing landing page and modify it to fit my needs. That's how YoinkUI was born.

  3. What s a feature or detail you obsessed over that most users will never notice but you're really proud of?

Most DOMs contain hundreds of invisible elements that don't affect the UI. Coming up with a mechanism that removes all those elements without breaking the layout of the page proved to be more difficult than I anticipated. This is one of those features which you won't notice is there, until it's not. Then you'll definitely notice.

  4. What s something that didn t make it into your product for this launch, but you'd like to build?

I want to add an AI agent to help with updating the copy and styles of the yoinked page/component. So you Yoink a landing page and tell the agent "hey change the copy to match my own product, and make the theme purple" and it will do it.

  5. Is this your first product? If not, what else have you built, or are currently working on?

This is my second product. I realized the need to build YoinkUI while building my first product actually. It was a competitor marketing analysis tool, but I abandoned the project.

  6. What s your secret weapon or go-to when you get stuck while building?

Going for a walk or taking a shower always helps me clear my mind and oftentimes the solution comes to me instantly afterwards.

  7. When did you decide to launch on Product Hunt, and how did you prep for it? Do you have any advice for someone thinking about launching?

I had been thinking of launching for a while. I was very confident in my product so I launched within a few hours notice. It hasn t even been a month yet and I ve gotten 1000 users. My reddit launch post went viral getting 200k views. I placed 4th product of the day on Product Hunt, despite basically having no audience.

In hindsight I wish I had set up a teaser page for a few days, and promoted my launch on my site and told some friends. That's exactly what I recommend people do.

  8. What's the most surprising or unexpected learning and/or feedback you've received?

Sometimes the things that seem obvious to us, are not to our users. I gained some really valuable insight as to how people use my product by talking to them and the parts of the interface I can make clearer.

  9. Share a few Products and/or Makers that inspire you and why.

@jackfriks and @marclou are huge inspirations. Love their enthusiasm and energy and the way they tackle problems.

Are "real" engineers/developers (secretly) hating on non-technical vibecoders?

I made my first chrome extension using solely Chatgpt. I wanted to see if it was really possible for a non-technical person like me. I was really proud of myself, it inspired me to want to build more! But when I tried to add more features to it, I think the code got too bloated and messy and it just blew up so I just continue to use the extension for the basic need I have to save and organize notes I make on products that are interesting to me without all the bells and whistles I would have wanted. I wasn t trying to make money on it, just something to prove I could do it, and I got to feel what it was like to launch something on Product Hunt - yay!

But I ve also seen alot of posts/comments from more technical folks around the web hating on non technical people for believing that you can go from 0-1 and that these new tools are best to speed up work for technical people who already know how to code, not for newbies who end up with something that works by copying and pasting crappy code spit out by LLMs of their choice.

Raspberry Pi or other kit for beginner coder, OR subscription to Lovable or Bolt?

When my kids were really young, I had subscriptions to things for them like Kodable and @Tynker My oldest daughter had fun trying out the free Codemonster page, and then moved on to building her own games. I think she did stuff in Swift playground etc. then I recently shared @Lovable and @bolt.new with her so she's excited about that, but she's also asked for a @Raspberry Pi 5 kit.

For those more tecchy folks in this community, is a Raspberry Pi kit a good investment? (she's about to turn 11). Or should I get her a paid subscription to one of the AI coders instead so she can just vibe code things to her delight? Or are there other resources folks recommend, e.g. coding classes where she'll get more guidance to build something on her own?

Suggestions for meditation apps, or go back to Calm or Headspace?

@mat_sherman and I have been talking about meditation and I was remembering I had tested out @Calm and @Headspace. I searched forums and see references to these in convos 5 years ago. They still seem like the main contenders, but I also just downloaded @Insight Timer App @Breathwrk and https://www.meditatehappier.com/ too.

Anyone have experience with any of these? I'm new to meditation, have tried it a few times but have yet to build a habit and need to! Any recs are greatly appreciated!

Does it matter if your app was purely "vibe coded" for acquisitions?

I've been having a lot of fun exploring AI and using tools like @Cursor, @bolt.new, @Lovable, and @Warp to learn how to build and make some apps for myself! I'm also noticing a tremendous amount of growth in folks creating their own apps using these same tools which has me wondering... if a company wanted to acquire someone's app or tool that was built via vibe coding, would it matter how it was built? Does the method of how it was built impact the valuation?
In my idealistic eyes, I'd like to think it doesn't. As an acquisition is often much more than just the tech but also the user base, brand, and even team behind the product. If anything I think that acquiring a product that has been "vibe coded" and putting them into capable engineering hands would only enhance the product...or a least make the code base cleaner.
I also believe that talent that is able to create stunning products with AI is currently a small percentage of folks, and that companies should be investing in acquiring that talent (either independently or via product acquisition) so that they can stay ahead in innovation while learning how to implement AI tools more efficiently in their orgs.
Very curious to hear what you all think!

FOR FUN! Can you guess what generation someone is from based on what apps they use?

I always feel like I m aging myself when I suggest using @PayPal to send money. ( Don t you have Venmo? my little brother asked me years ago. I quickly made an account but honestly, I only use it with him.)

It s wild how fast things have changed. First, @Venmo and @Zelle took over, and now there s @Wise , @revolut , and probably dozens of other ways now to send people money instantly.

Struggling to Find My First SaaS Idea – Advice from Experts?

Hey everyone!

I m just getting started on my SaaS journey and, like many beginners, I m facing the classic challenge choosing the right idea to work on.

I feel like I might be overthinking it. On one hand, I just need to dive in and build something to gain experience. But at the same time, I want to ensure I m working on a valuable idea with real potential.

What’s your unspoken rule as an indie dev?

Not the ones in blog posts.
The ones you actually follow (or ignore completely).

Mine?
Ship it when it s 80% ready. The last 20% takes forever anyway.
Sometimes it works. Sometimes it really doesn t.

What s your go-to rule or the one you always break?

AWS cost savings - What's the difference between Vantage and Pump?

Everyone uses AWS! It's a huge % of our monthly SaaS spend here at PH. @Pump reached out to us and we know folks over at @Vantage . Have you used Vantage, Pump or similar? What's the difference between them? They offer significant savings - up to 60%. What are the risks and other considerations we should think about?

For Charthop SUPER fans - what are your best tips and hacks?

Last month, I posted about the best Payroll / PEO / EOR / HRIS for distributed teams and couldn't NOT include a shoutout to my favorite HRIS tool right now, @charthop . I love the google sheets sync that helps me provide data views / dashboards to the exec and finance teams without them needing to log in to Charthop.

Outside of being an awesome HRIS database, I know there is so much more and we're just getting started with automated workflows. I'd love to hear from other Charthop superusers on how they are using Charthop to supercharge their People Ops work. For example, I've tested out their headcount planning and their compensation add on and loved how you could manage their entire cycle in there, including raise requests, approvals and budgeting.

Has AI helped you do what you couldn't before? Or still figuring it out?

I think by 2030, the real question won't be "Do you use AI?" but "Can you work without it?"

I noticed this in my own life recently.

I always said "I'm terrible at design" whenever I needed to make something look nice.

We Pivoted Fine to Focus Entirely on Builders

Recently, we made a big decision at Fine:
Focus entirely on builders (and not devs).

I thought I'd share why we made this change, what's different now, and what it means to be a builder-first company.

1/ We used to think of @Fine as a devtool.

An AI agent that helps developers write code faster, something like @Devin by Cognition, Claude Code or web-based version of @Cursor.

Subscription vs Lifetime Plans – what do you prefer (and why)?

Every time I try out a new app or SaaS tool, I go straight to the pricing page, even if I don t plan to buy or subscribe. I m just curious to see how much they thinks it s worth.

Most products still stick with the good old subscription model, which makes sense, it's reliable, predictable, and aligns with ongoing costs. But more and more apps are starting to offer a lifetime option as well, and honestly I kind of love that.
