Are the tech boom times over?

Interesting piece by a writer I enjoy reading: https://www.theterminal.info/i/8... Some choice quotes: "I think it s pretty clear by now the software-led tech boom of the 2010s is pretty much over. The combination of pandemic stimulus and tech-enabled remote work kept things ebbing along a few years longer than they perhaps would have otherwise, but the party s over. There are the mass layoffs helpfully tracked here plunging stock prices and missed revenue guidance, but all of those can be blamed on a generally flagging economy. The rest of it is in the vibes." "You don t have to look far for those vibes. Elon Musk ascending to the throne of Twitter atop a pile of middle manager skulls. Mark Zuckerberg pumping the spoils of a decade of social media dominance into brute forcing the existence of a parallel universe nobody wants to spend any time in. Legions of platform businesses collapsing on their own rickety scaffolding. The form and function of the smartphone growing stagnant, such that it is no longer really possible to discern the difference between iPhone models. The slushy cultural output of a legion of streaming services chasing what few potential subscribers remain. Elizabeth Holmes going to jail." What do people think? Personally I think there is a significant correction occurring and the easy money spigot, is obviously given what is happening in the global economy, has turned off. At the same time I still hear about significant fundraising success for startups. I am definitely a skeptic and a bit of a doom guy so I'm interested in other takes and thoughts?

Which Chrome Extensions can you not live without?

I love chrome extensions! They make some of my tasks super easy. I add/remove extensions regularly, but these are some of them which I can't remove for sure. - Grammarly: Extraordinary help while writing anything from emails to blogs. - Dashlane: Can never remember my passwords. - Pocket: Best way to not lose the articles I want to read later. - Loom: Video version of "This meeting could've been an email". I love to quickly record screens and send it to my teammates. - Wappalyzer: When I want to know the tech stack on which a website is built on. - Honey: Of course! Which girl doesn't like good shopping deals. And while you re here, Check out our product Supademo. A simple Chrome Extension helps you create interactive product demos in minutes. We have launched on Product hunt!! We would love to see your love and support. https://www.producthunt.com/post... Edit - Adding the most suggested extensions received in the comments. 1. What kind of SAAS trends do you anticipate in 2023?

I personally think generative ai is going to go mainstream in 2023, bringing about a huge revolution for jobs across design and writing. Most of the opportunity is going to be around platform building and monetisation using the underlying models.

Amazon just announced a medication subscription šŸ‘€

RxPass is the latest addition to Amazon Pharmacy as the company looks to take a larger piece of the medication market share. RxPass allows Prime users to pay a monthly, flat fee of $5 to receive as much generic medication as they need. We've seen the beginnings of a generic medication price-revolution with Mark Cuban's Cost Plus Drugs. What do you think of this move by Amazon?

Updated !! Startup, Startup & Startup. What is the one thing you think about every single day?

I updated more options based on popular demand. I have to be honest, for me, its the entrepreneurship which wakes me up every single day. I enjoy the challenges thrown and I get motivated immensely when we achieve the small victories. But its the success which is what I think about every day. What is it for you? 1. Finances 2. Success 3. Personal impact if it fails 4. Scaling the startup 5. How to survive 6. Family Please feel to add if there is a new reason

I’m Jakob Knutzen, co-founder of Butter. Ask me anything! šŸ’„

Hey everyone I m Jakob and I m currently working on Butter, which is a video conferencing tool that lets you plan, run and recap super-engaging sessions from one place. We ve launched on Product Hunt twice before, so super grateful to be able to do an AMA here! I previously founded StreamCrux, a game-streaming startup. It failed , but it s where I learned how to run a fully remote company. Ask me anything about building remote companies, product- and community-led growth, facilitation, remote work and the future of collaboration!

I’m Matthew Busel, co-founder of Whalesync. Ask me anything! šŸ™‹

Hi everyone I'm Matthew, and I'm building Whalesync, a no-code tool that lets you 2-way sync data across apps like Airtable, Notion, & Bubble. This has been one of my favorite places on the internet for years, so I'm very grateful to get to do an AMA. I've launched 7 products on PH (some more successful than others ) but it's always been a fun ride. Ask me anything about no-code, going thru YC, going the VC-backed route, building a remote company, or startup SEO.

Do you think Bing has a chance to challenge Google?

Bing, since its release, was never taken seriously, I feel, at least not when compared to Google. Now with ChatGPT implemented and the potential to further integrate OpenAI into the Bing-sphere, do you think it has a serious chance to challenge Google?

What activities help you unwind?

Hey there! When I need to unwind, I love doing activities that help me relax and clear my mind. One of my favorite things to do is go for a long walk outside and soak up some fresh air and sunshine. Yoga and meditation are also great for calming my mind and relieving stress. I also enjoy getting lost in a good book or watching a movie or TV show that I can fully immerse myself in.

What needs to be perfect with your product before launch?

I've just made the most difficult decision to put off my product launch until after a week later because I thought we are not ready. A few shake-ups here and there. But this, in my opinion, while it is a setback, I see it instead as an opportunity to re-evaluate what we currently have. And make sure we get it right with our launch. We're working on making our product worthy of this community. And we are working hard at it. What is a non-negotiable for product launches in your opinion? Let's hear your thoughts. UPDATE: We finally fixed the issue we had and resolved to go live this Saturday. :) I can't thank you all enough for all your amazing answers. We'll keep working hard on our product even post-launch. But of course, those early feedbacks will be vital to our growth. We are going live on PH on Saturday. Please find us here: https://www.producthunt.com/prod... Thanks for your support.
