making Speakmac - offline STT, lifetime

About

I’m Kiran, an indie hacker from India building Mac-native apps that run on your machine instead of someone else’s. My current focus is Speakmac - a fast, private voice-to-text app that transcribes what you say and pastes it anywhere. I started building this because I did not want to pay 12$ every month for speech to text when paying 20$ for ChatGPT was already high enough expense for me. With beast of Mac hardware and models getting lighter and smarter, on-device models are on par with cloud models with very little CPU/RAM usage

Speakmac - Private voice typing for Mac that works anywhere

Speakmac is private voice typing for Mac that works anywhere. Dictate with live preview, hands-free mode, custom words, multilingual packs, and audio-file transcription. It runs locally, feels fast, and gives Mac users a one-time purchase instead of another subscription.

MacWiFi - Know if your internet is flaky before your next call

MacWiFi helps you answer the question that speed tests don’t: will this connection actually hold up for calls, streaming, browsing, and real work? This a perfect companion for anyone who is always on the go and has to deal with flaky internet connection on a daily basis. I cannot tell you how many times when the internet was slow and then I went and did a speed test and everything looks perfect. But when I attend my call and it is still same shitty connection.

ChatGPT images vs Nano Banana

I ve been using Google s @NanoBanana image tools for a while now for quick visuals, edits, and the occasional cursed meme. They ve been good enough that I haven t really felt a big urge to switch.

But I m seeing a ton of buzz around @ChatGPT Images and how much better they are for real-world stuff like thumbnails, product shots, and UI mocks.
