About

a solo founder based in Morocco, building BarberScanner, a booking app made specifically for barbers and their clients. I kept seeing barbers manage appointments through phone calls, WhatsApp, and notebooks, missed messages, double bookings, lost clients. Meanwhile, clients had no easy way to find and book a barber they could trust. BarberScanner fixes both sides: barbers get a professional profile and real-time bookings, clients get to discover trusted barbers nearby and book in seconds. I'm building this solo, starting in Morocco, with the goal of growing from there. No big team or budget behind it, just trying to build something barbers actually deserve. Would love for this community to try it and tell me what's missing.

Building BarberScanner

When I started building BarberScanner, I thought the biggest challenge would be building the product.
I was wrong.
As a software developer, building the product was actually the part I felt most comfortable with. It wasn t easy, but I knew how to build a full project from the technical side.
What was new to me was everything around it.
Marketing. Customer validation. Content creation. Understanding numbers. Talking to customers. Getting people to actually use the product. And learning how to turn an idea into a real business.
And honestly, I ve learned a lot.
There are days when, after a long 9 5, I stay up late working on BarberScanner.
There are days when things go well and the positive feedback gives you a lot of energy.
And there are also days when you ask yourself:
Should I just quit?
But then I remember why I started.
BarberScanner is not just a side project for me.
As I said in my launch post:
This is a solution to a problem I m facing in my own life. It s not just a side project.
That mission is what keeps me going.
In my previous companies, I always appreciated the people around me from management and product teams to QA, marketing, and everyone in between.
But now, experiencing some of these responsibilities myself has given me an even deeper appreciation for their work.
Every role matters. Every person matters.
Building software is only one part of building a product.
You can build something technically great, but you still need to understand the people you're building it for, validate the problem, communicate the value, and convince people to give it a chance.
BarberScanner is getting a lot of positive feedback, and that gives me even more motivation to keep improving it.
So the journey continues.
I m still learning. Still building. Still experimenting. Still making mistakes. And still believing in the vision.
I don t know exactly where BarberScanner will take me, but I hope that one day it will make a real difference in people s lives both for barbers and their clients.
