I bought one here in Vancouver, Canada. Been using it for about 2 weeks now. I went with the white base with tabletop. I thought that the birch looked kinda cheap in the showroom. Based on the code samples on their In Use page, it looks like they've developed an RPC protocol similar to Apache Thrift. This means that they probably compress and send data more efficiently than a traditional REST API. Evernote is the one service that I can think of that uses RPC over REST. Their SDK must also embed a cache in the iOS or Android client.
