My church was looking for an inexpensive Assistive Listening option - but I couldn't find one that didn't require expensive, proprietary hardware - so I created my own lightweight low-latency solution using hardware I (a Mac) and our attendees (smartphones) already had. It's worked so well for us, I figured I would share it with the world!
