showmd - Markdown was never meant to be previewed plain text

Ever asked yourself why all of those SKILL.md files are rendered in plain text in MacOS Preview? showmd is a free, native macOS Quick Look extension that renders Markdown beautifully. YAML frontmatter parsed into a collapsible metadata table — collapsed by default, one click to expand. No other viewer does this. Agentic AI XML tags — , , , and 17 more — rendered as labeled, bordered blocks instead of raw angle brackets.

Vote selling on Product Hunt

Every day, after launching, makers are contacted on LinkedIn and X by people offering to sell votes. As the Product Hunt team, we are very much aware of this and really hate it. We have systems in place to neutralize this type of gaming. Every vote counts for a different number of points on Product Hunt. A couple examples:

  • An account with a recently created gmail address and no history of quality contributions on Product Hunt: this vote will count for 0 points. Yes, this might be a well intentioned user, but we take a conservative approach to protect the community. If the account has a company email or applies for verification on Product Hunt, that's a different story.

  • An account with a company email address linked to a legitimate LinkedIn account with a history of meaningful contributions on Product Hunt: this vote carries significant weight.

A couple questions for the community:

  • Are there specific accounts on Product Hunt that you suspect participate in vote selling? You can reply here or email report@producthunt.co

  • What would you want to see us do differently here?

Holdor – Stop your Agents from sleeping - Your Mac stays awake. Sleep is for humans, not agents.

Holdor is a free, open-source macOS menu bar app that prevents sleep while Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code, and other AI coding agents are running. Lock your screen, walk away, agents keep working.

📐 What are your top 5 tools?

I loved https://yourstack.com because it allowed me to list (stack) the tools I'm using (to make stuff). Basically answering the question "which tools are you using/recommending?". Yourstack was also great becuause you could browse the stacks of other makers to (re)discover tools and compare approaches as well as sharing tips and tricks around those tools. While yourstack is currently on (permanent) vacation (https://twitter.com/rrhoover/sta...) I was wondering if you only could take 5 tools to an island: which tools would you pick and why? Ideally name tools that you rely on regularly. Can be evergreen tools or something new. Bonus points if you made something using those tools. Feel free to share what you made for context : ) Will also share my top 5 tools after a few comments (wow, narrowing down is not easy)!

What's the best tool for sharing and co-drafting Twitter DMs?

I'm looking for a tool that makes it easy to share select Twitter DMs with my team and give them the ability to write a draft response that I can review before sending. Any recommendations? We use Front for email collaboration but it appears their Twitter integration is no longer working.
