I run Memolio from Innsbruck, Austria — a one-person company making illustrated hardcover books about real people's lives. Families answer questions about a grandparent and share old photos; AI writes the story from their real answers and paints every page with the actual faces. Nothing prints until the family has edited and approved every page. I'm not a classically trained developer — I've built the whole pipeline solo with AI tools and a lot of stubbornness, and I think that's now a legitimate way to build a company. First launch here is September 9th. Mostly I'm around to learn from people who've done this before, and happy to talk shop about AI image pipelines, print-on-demand, or selling physical products from the EU.

What's one feature in your product that could be its own product?

I'm launching a personalised storybook for grandparents tomorrow, and somewhere along the way one feature grew bigger than I expected.

Every page is an AI illustration, and some of the people reviewing them are in their seventies, eighties or beyond. Now these guys are my main audience but its clear that they are a secondary target group. They have never written a prompt and possibly never will. Early on I gave them a text box and a few dropdowns to describe what was wrong with a picture, and it didn't work. They knew exactly what was wrong but couldn't put it into words a model would understand. Explaining that the person with brown hair should look shorter is fine if there is only one person with brown hair, but the second a picture with any kind of complexity to it is being looked at, things can bread down quickly. For someone adept at this, a bit of patience and clearer instruction works just fine, but if you are creating a consumer facing product with greenhorns, you HAVE to make it easy for them.

I m curious how people are actually using coding agents today.

Do you mostly use them directly in the terminal, or through an app/interface like Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, etc.?

What is BAD vs. GOOD AI judgement?

Would love to hear thoughts.
Here's my perspective.
I'm against AI slop, but I'm not against AI. I believe AI is a great tool but it also needs greats pilots to use it well. This is what I'm working on. AI Fluency.

Biggest marker of AI fluency is AI judgement. Where and when to use AI and where and when not to.
