Gripely

Solving conflicts, one gripe at a time.

About

Gripely is a calm, structured space for teams, families, and communities to work through the things that quietly build up. You name what's actually underneath a concern, the other person reflects it back, and only once you genuinely feel understood do you work out a solution together. Prefer to think it through on your own first? There's a private journal for that too. Instead of letting issues spiral, everyone gets a fair way to be heard and move toward resolution. Try it free at gripely.io.

My wife and I used to fight about the dishes. A lot. Then I built a solution.

My wife and I used to fight about the dishes. Not big dramatic fights. Just the same small one, over and over.

I would walk into the kitchen, see the sink full again, and feel something tighten. I would say something like "did nobody notice this?" She would hear that as a dig, because it was one. And then we were off. Her defending, me getting quiet and annoyed, both of us saying things that were not really about plates.

It took me way too long to figure out the real problem. I did not actually care that much about the dishes. I cared about feeling like I was the only one keeping the house running, and that nobody saw it. But you cannot say "I feel invisible" while you are standing there holding a dirty pan. So it comes out as a jab about the pan. She gets defensive about the pan. And we both go to bed a little colder.
