How have we not reached the very rock bottom, tell me? Like why is this a thing? Why am I alive during this time? Why am I being exposed to this?

Our community, tilde.town, has its own Mastodon instance, and let me tell you, it's so much fun to hang out with people you're actually cool with, instead of having to deal with Russian bots, horrible racists tweeting images of gore at you, and millennials making constant hot takes. I like that there's more of a curated, experience, and you can choose which instances to federate in your feed....

So like, how many POC do you have to hate being around for you to basically make a glorified vending machine? I like tech as much as the next person, but if your main business concern is helping wealthy white people fence themselves off from the people whose neighborhood they're gentrifying, then I seriously question the moral motivations of the tech industry and its aspirations for making our...

What a wonderful project. If there is anything that America needs to understand it's that all immigrants are valid, regardless if they work in Silicon Valley or not––immigrants are more than just a workforce. They're people, too!

Just a question here for anyone who's interested in responding: why does being nice in an email seem like such a difficult task? Is it because bosses and clients are really assholes? I'm writing a book on etiquette for millennials right now, and I want to know what sort of passive-aggressive environment these emails are being created in. Is civility really this hard to come by?

I just love apps like these so much. So much of apps that are inherently designed to keep us focus do precisely the opposite––it's nice to have something calm and non-intrusive to break apart a day into. And I especially like the use of contemplative sounds to break up the monotony here. Of note here especially is focus history; I think it encourages good habits like being still and keeping...

this is amazing. finally, a linux distro that has good style points, usability, and a lot of really fun and really interesting apps. i'm curious to see how this might work in lower-income communities that don't have access to good hardware/software solutions.

This is a wonderful and super important tool to reclaim journalism (and ultimately democracy) from greedy people. But it would be ultimately more useful if Facebook and Twitter didn't exist at all!
