We use Mattermost on the IEEE SA Open platform where we "drink or own wine" and stitch together open source solutions to provide a cohesive experience for open source projects.

I like Matrix's integrations with various other platforms. I personally use Matrix in my classroom for instant messaging with my students. Specifically, we the use Element user interface. My only concern is the encryption which I disable because it causes too much hassle setting up with students who don't understand it.

Cauldron is the easiest way to get deep insights to open source projects. It's much more customizable than OpenHub.
