
I just got my Bird Buddy a couple of days ago and it's just as advertised. The current F/W still has some issues, but their customer support got back to me quickly and they actually had already discovered some decent work-arounds. The current setup routine is a bit gronky since you have to start from scratch if you want to change anything. But I'm sure that this will be fixed in a future rev.
They were well over a year late delivering, but this is often the case with a truly new product. (A lot of these crowd funding campaigns are for products that already exist and are simply getting approvals for entering new markets.) This was an actual NEW idea and product. (Going from a working prototype to a manufactured product is a HUGE undertaking. I speak from experience.)
They also had to deal with COVID and other supply issues. They were the victim of a lot of pop-up scam sites that claimed to be selling Bird Buddies even though they hadn't been developed yet!
Granted, I have yet to have a bird visit my feeder so I can't comment on how well the Postcard and species ID features work. In the past, I've found that it takes a couple of weeks for birds to feel comfortable visiting a new feature, so I'm sure that I will be seeing bird notifications soon enough.
