The term comes from behavioral economics: a voluntary constraint you put on your future self, because you already know how that guy behaves. Most of them collect money when you fail. Mine collect proof. Three so far, built in Seoul, alone. A reminder app that told you what to do. A to-do app that made you photograph the evidence. And Run Late -- a departure alarm with no off button that ends only when GPS confirms you've walked out of the house. Each one trusts the user a little less. I've come to think that's the point.
