Eighteen years of writing code, my career is finally old enough to vote! Some days, it still surprises me. I'm an engineer from South Africa. My career was mainly in building life insurance systems in Java using Vaadin (I used to avoid JS like the plague). I've also built systems in Python (FastAPI/Flask and Django) and frontends in React, Vue, and Angular. I've also spent about 3 years building out iPad applications in Objective-C (pre-ARC) for various South African customers. I've since had flashbacks to fond memories of building applications in the Apple ecosystem and wanted to get back into it.
