We wanted to add animations on parts of 3d models for a game we are working on (cloth sailing in the wind for the boat) and non-humanoids. Mixamo and other sites can do rigging humanoids but they don't have morphing selected parts of the model. We started from there, adding morph animations, and started to add other types of animations.
