Hey everyone! We are getting ready to launch TogetLink IdeaAI soon, but I wanted to hear your thoughts on a major design decision we made.
Right now, most AI coding tools (like ChatGPT or Claude) live in the browser. You have to constantly copy-paste code back and forth, and they lack the context of your entire local project. On the other hand, IDE extensions (like Copilot) are great for autocomplete, but they don't act as autonomous agents that can execute complex refactoring or terminal commands on their own.
That s exactly why we decided to build IdeaAI as a native desktop application. It connects directly to your local file system, understands your entire directory, and executes tasks autonomously without the copy-paste fatigue.
My question to the developers and builders here: Do you prefer your AI assistants strictly inside your IDE (as plugins), in a browser tab, or as a standalone desktop agent with deep local access?
