Sacca's always fun. I wish the pitches hadn't been from the Launch incubator. Made it a bit too self-promotional. They also went on too long, though it's interesting to hear Sacca question an entrepreneur (though you can also get that on Startup). The furniture one is the only one that has real potential, but then I guess that's like Shark Tank where maybe one pitch a show is actually a good...

A company called Wizzard Media created a skinnable app for podcasters in maybe 2010 or 2011. WTF was one of the more prominent early adopters. I recall Greg Proops also used it for this Smartest Man in the World podcast. About a year ago, Fast Company interviewed WTF producer Brendan McDonald and asked him about the app. Here's what he said: " The popularity of the app and the way we utilize...

If Apple Pay works, it's hard to see there being enough value in the differentiation here. Credit cards are the ultimate "good enough" solution.

Listened to the first two episodes this morning. Really fantastic. Both extremely well done audio documentary and a fascinating, self-aware chronicle of a first-time founder. Can't wait for the rest of this mini-series and then the actual "product" from Orelo or APC or whatever. I think branding is wildly undervalued in SV. Let's face it: I am writing this comment on Product Hunt (no offense,...

Sure @eriktorenberg, I'll take the bait. ;-) If you're sending me a press release, you've already lost. The one thing I do to eliminate noise in my inbox is immediately reject anything that's not addressed to me (Dear David) or looks like a press release below a cursory attempt at personalization. There are times when I might go back and read releases if I'm already working on something and...

I love mechanical and automatic watches, and this looks really nice in terms of the watch design. It does start to lose me with the smartwatch features, at least as rendered. It's really hard to hit that pre-order button on first-gen tech when the category is still so wide open. That said, I'd love to see more watchmakers embrace Android Wear (or other smartwatch tech) and produce more devices...

As a journalist, I find it hard not to be a little disturbed at the profusion of startups purporting to help startups get press (PressFarm, PressFriendly, PressKing, and BitesizePR have all been on PH). Both as a signal of froth and in being reduced to a historical dataset. I agree that there's some value in a founder reaching out directly versus a PR firm, but the downside is that you don't...
