About

We build speech models and voice agents at Lokutor, a small team in Madrid. Our work spans speech recognition, turn taking, noise suppression and speech synthesis, with a separate language model provider. We also build Ito and Oído for the ESP32 S3. We're sharing the models, deployment tradeoffs and what we still need to measure.

Why we're building small speech models for cloud, servers and devices

We're a small team in Madrid building Lokutor. We want voice agents to work where people need them: in the cloud, inside a company's own servers, and on devices that cannot depend on a connection.

That means paying attention to the speech models themselves, not only the orchestration around them. Size, deployment and what happens during a conversation all matter.

Our platform work covers four parts of that conversation:

Psst cleans the caller's audio before speech recognition. We build it for the recogniser behind it, not just for audio that sounds cleaner.

Lokutor - Voice AI on speech foundation models we train ourselves

Lokutor is a speech AI company in Madrid. We design and train our own small speech foundation models: Versa (text to speech in 9 languages, incl. Catalan, Galician and Basque), Turno (turn-taking: knows when the caller is done and lets them interrupt) and Psst (noise suppression), with Conv 2.0 (speech recognition) in development. Small models make it fast and affordable: agents answer in about 0.6 s (596 ms median) for about 5¢ a minute, LLM included. Live demo on lokutor.com, no sign-up.
