What's great
I was debating between My Finance and Monarch Money and ended up going with My Finance, mainly because it seemed more maker-driven and less corporate. I've been happy with my choice so far! Main things I'm enjoying are 1) The custom notifications I can set up to email me. I usually hate emails but these are coming in clutch for me because I'm now easily able to see all my transactions without signing onto my bank account. I've literally saved like $400 already because I've realized I was subscribed to things I forgot about. 2) The custom categories and automatic transactions are very helpful because I can now see how much I spend on groceries, travel, dance etc. I used Quickbooks self-employed for a long time and it was good for my business transactions but I couldn't categorize my personal transactions which was very annoying. My Finance can do both which is rad. 3) I like that you can add your Vanguard and other accounts to see an overview of all your assets.
What needs improvement
I think the UX could be improved some but overall it's fine as is.
vs Alternatives
It was more maker-driven and less corporate and it had the functionality and customization I was looking for.
How many banks and brokerages can it connect to?
I haven't had trouble connecting any of my bank accounts. So as far as I know, it can connect all of them.
Can I fix miscategorized transactions and set persistent rules?
Yes you can fix miscategorized transactions and set rules. I forgot to add a category initially but I was able to just hit a button that recategorized everything. There are transactions in the wrong place sometimes and I can manually recategorize and set rules.
