I am a WP user and Gitpages is responsible for my intro into HTML websites and the use of Github, which was never going to happen without someone baiting me with a 3 min website builder...I am thankful for the new skills and every feature that I asked for and could imagine has been made standard in a very short time.

Gitpages is very dynamic and constantly evolving and Ben has his finger on the pulse of marketing online, which is very helpful if you want people to find your website...
Did SSL and CDN configure automatically without extra steps?
No, though easily done through Github and domain provider or current host
Does it support custom domains and subdomain routing easily?
yes
Can you add custom CSS/JS without breaking builds?
