Heya, this is my crypto / vr project, spun off from 3 years of webvr work. It's a voxel based world that exists on the ethereum blockchain (land ownership is recorded as a ERC721 token). The city has been slowly growing out from the origin, and I thought it was time to show off my work to the producthunt crowd. ☺️

Hi all, I'm the author of CowChat. I made it as an experiment in location based messaging, in a semi-anonymous context. I've intentionally removed as much text from the UI as possible to make it more like 'playing' and less like learning an interface. I've been inspired from Slack, Yik Yak and MSN Messenger in creating an old school chat room. Hope you like it.

Large parts of this product are opensource on github.com/scenevr. Feel free to hit me up with any questions, or open an issue for feature requests.

I've been working on scenevr for 6 months and it's starting to come together. Come view some galleries, play pacman or just hang with us.

I've thought about showing the closest x users, but the idea is that you leave messages at places and pick them up when you get there. I think 'closest x users' would be cool, but a different app idea. :) It does need a network connection, just gps + wifi network positioning, no mesh networking / bluetooth.

I'm going to analyse the data in aggregate to see which cities people are using the app in, and then do grass-roots marketing there (fiverr fliers, subreddits, local blogs). And focus on making the product better, since that's something that I have experience with and have control over :)

Hey Ryan, thanks for posting this. :) I made it anonymous out of laziness basically, it was easier to not have a sign up screen than to have one. I'm thinking I'll offer usernames as an In-App-Purchase if I get enough traction.

I started work on this about 2 weeks ago, it's a hybrid app for iphone and android, came together pretty well :)
