About

Bertus Eksteen’s journey into medicine began with a deep fascination with how the human body defends itself against disease. He was born and raised in South Africa, where he completed his MBChB at the University of Pretoria in 1996. His commitment to expanding his knowledge led him abroad, where he earned a membership in the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in London in 1998. Later, he pursued a PhD in immunology at the University of Birmingham, deepening his expertise in the field. In 2008, Bertus completed his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and in 2011, he was awarded a Fellowship (FRCP) from the Royal College of Physicians.
