I wanted to focus on building the app, not managing global taxes.
As an indie developer, dealing with international VAT and tax compliance is a nightmare. Lemon Squeezy acts as the Merchant of Record (MoR), handling all of that for me.
Plus, their built-in License Key API was a perfect fit for a native macOS app. It allowed me to implement robust activation logic (LicenseManager.swift) without building and maintaining a complex backend server from scratch.
