I build open-source tools to solve problems I run into myself. Unfocus started when coding agents changed my workday. I kept sending “one more prompt” and spending longer in my chair. I wanted a simple reminder to step away, plus a way to understand the rhythm of my day. So I built a desktop app with Rust and Tauri: regular screen breaks and local activity history, without accounts, telemetry, or productivity scores. I care about useful software, thoughtful design, and keeping people in control of their data.

Unfocus is a free, open-source desktop break reminder built with Rust and Tauri. Take a 20-second break every 20 minutes by default, with a calm scene across your monitors. See your active and away time, breaks, and 90-day history—all stored locally. No accounts, telemetry, streaks, or scores. Available for macOS and Linux X11; Windows is experimental.
