20GB of data usage an hour?! DOA for anyone with data caps. Not impressed.

It's a novelty and not one that accomplishes anything worthwhile. I hate to sound harsh but I see absolutely no upside to this. Already seeing it abused /gamed on news submission aggregators to get around restrictions and make posts stand out when they are not supposed to, which hurts the user experience. A CSS re-style of the "old HTML version" of Gmail would be more useful I think, because of the performance improvement. The problem with re-styling the new version is that it retains the performance problems
