0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds is like, faster than Usain Bolt 😮
Hope Atina
@nivo0o0 barely
Niv Dror
and 2.5 seconds is as fast as fast as a Bugatti Veyron ($2.5M) and a Porsche 911s ($188k) -- wow per @panzer tweet: https://twitter.com/panzer/statu...
Joshua Pinter
@bentossell @nivo0o0 @panzer They clarified it on their blog post: "The Model S P100D with Ludicrous mode is the third fastest accelerating production car ever produced, with a 0-60 mph time of 2.5* seconds. However, both the LaFerrari and the Porsche 918 Spyder were limited run, million dollar vehicles and cannot be bought new."

@nivo0o0 hot damn I want it. Now.

That one time I wish the button would give it:

Wow. So what is the limiting factor to how much more Tesla can increase the speeds?
Joe Blau
@joshdance physics.
Jon Vanhala
@joe_blau @joshdance beat me to it
Joshua Dance
@joe_blau haha. Yes. :) But what kind? Is it the tires losing friction as they transition from static to dynamic? Is it the heat generated by the batteries dumping energy into the motors? Is it the torque overcoming the shear force of the axle? I would love to know more about what is stopping them from going faster!

"While those cars are small two seaters with very little luggage space, the pure electric, all-wheel drive Model S P100D has four doors, seats up to 5 adults plus 2 children and has exceptional cargo capacity." Driving a 918 spyder and going 0 to 60 for 2.5 sec would be fun, not so much in a four door sedan with 5 adults, 2 children and some luggage.... I'm a big car enthusiast, but I don't understand why someone would want to do 0 to 60 for 2.5sec in a Tesla. I personally would never use that driving around Los Angeles. I would be much more interested if the Tesla hit the 1000 miles range with one charge.

Another nail in the coffin of ICE. At some point the romance has to end. Personally I could care less about the sound my engine makes (the less the better). Will be interesting to see how the legacy brands position ICE vs. electric in coming years. Ferrari could be the last man standing.
Sam Sabri
@paul_shustak even then Ferrari only stands with a small community - those that can afford it. This is a bigger nail in the coffin for car makers who make "affordable" performance cars like Ford, BMW, etc.
