🖊 We made Papier because we needed a simple, clean, and distraction-free way to take notes in style. Now with the Papier extension for Chrome, just open a new tab and trap your best thoughts. They'll be backed up directly to Chrome: no accounts, no syncing ;)

@davepaliwoda Thank you for asking. We took some time to decide which pricing model and platform to choose. At first we didn't even known that it was possible to sell items on the Chrome Store!
To be honest, Chrome Store settings for publishers are quite outdated and even sometimes buggy. But the Google Wallet integration is really helpful for payments from Google accounts.
So far, we're really happy with the results and the price is seen as a mark of quality :)

@lucchaissac very cool! I love "native" apps that tap into the simplicity of existing applications. Definitely something I'd use if you ported to FF which seems totally doable.

One thing that I think would improve UX is to have a little "Saved" message whenever the cache is updated. It is basically piece of mind and reduces anxiety. I am afraid I am going to loose my notes. What happens if I close the browser. If I have to think about that and maybe I copy & paste into Evernote, that defeats the purpose.
I think that can be addressed easily with some smart copy like "All saved. It's ok to close the browser." or "All good. Everything is going to be here when you come back.". Something on that line...

@asatwork Thank you! We're actually thinking to partner with Evernote and Dropbox for syncing and export. But since we want to keep it as much as possible, it's not an easy thing to find the best solution for the moment :)

Every day I use a similar extension called Write Space that was popular a few years ago. It's a bit simpler (plain text, no formatting, etc.), but I'm going to consider switching to Papier.

I've been using http://a5.gg/ forever now for this kind of use case.
Papier has the nice touch of syncing to cloud + html support apparently, though that's really icing on the cake for simple note jotting.
Price is steep for a chrome ext. here.

I have to agree - much too steep of a price for something so simple, especially when other browser-based tools like http://a5.gg/ as a site or Memo Notepad as an extension already exist.

Hi Luc, I'd really like to use Papier, but it says that "pricing isnt available" when I try to install it from my Google Apps Chrome store acc? :/ Is it because I'm from Croatia or...?

@calyhre Meh :/ You guys IMHO should build a free limited app, because this means that hundreds of countries cant use your app :( Because I can't even try it out...

Nice, but I am trying to figure out the need for this.
There are gazillions of note taking apps out there, in browser, in app, pre-installed on purchase, you name it. In it's simplest form, a google doc will do the same job. Then, there's workflowy which does a superb job in this field. a5 is another competitor.

This is super useful, @lucchaissac ! Syncing with Dropbox, at the very minimum, would make this better. Evernote, Pocket, etc. integration would make it more attractive.

I have tried some tools to write simple notes, but they normally require an account and a few steps to actually start writing. I have to confess I normally use notepad, but I will try Papier since it's faster to open (I always have chrome opened). I love how simple it is. Great idea @lucchaissac
