Nice little idea. However, how is it different from Google Photos' "Assistant" - where I can just tell it to create an Animation or Movie or Gif or collage based on photos that I choose? I understand that this for iOS (iMessage), but isn't Google Photos available on iOS as well? https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/...
So, what's the USP here?
Report
@genadyo ok Thanks. But, how does the smart algorithm work? Google Photos Assistant does the same automatically as well on the fly as you take photos and videos; or you can feed it older media to create for you.
Report
@genadyo ok - I still can get my head around not comparing it with Google Photos because I don't have to feed anything to it either and can share directly via a multitude of apps. Anyway, I'm not familiar with iMessage. So, I guess it's very niche to it and iOS. Wish you the best. Cheers!

@techtosterone@genadyo was two threads of interrogation on a topic you admittedly don't know about (iOS) really necessary? And saying that something which applies to iOS is niche is a pretty funny oxymoron.

@andym_dc@genadyo It's called curiosity. I have a little too much of it perhaps :p
Fun little iMessage app that creates little GIFs of your recent photos to share with friends:
Reminds me of that Auto Awesome feature in Google+, which is now in Google Photos, and now, in turn, Google Photos will let you convert Live Photos into GIFs. Momento is nice because it'll use any of your photos, not just Live Photos.

@chrismessina I just posted a similar sounding question trying to understand how this is different from Google Photos Assistant. Mind elaborating "it'll use any of your photos, not just live photos" please? - Thanks

@genadyo@chrismessina I still am hard pressed to understand how it is different from Google photos. Google Photos algorithm is also pretty darn smart. So they keyword "smart" doesn't do it for me. Google Photos Assistant creates gifs, movies, collages etc automatically on the fly as you take photos and videos (if that's what you're calling Live Photos); or you can feed it the older media to create for you.

Just pasted the relevant line what I responded on my original question on our other conversation thread ;)

Looks great and can't wait to try but what's with the name? For years, I have used Momento - Private Diary/Daily Journal by d3 Ltd.

When I go to the App Store, it says that the item is not currently available in the US Store. When will it be available?
This is really awesome! Would be even more awesome if it could scan a video and take out certain frames to make a gif. But still awesome as is. I have tons of photos that can need a touch of gif-ing :)

I must have had my head buried in the sand - or elsewhere - when this was first featured on PH. Very cool - love it! I just wish we had more stickers and fun stuff to customize the GIFs.
