@danielkempe We don't officially support download in our UI yet, but you can easily right click on a HYFY video when viewing and select "Save Video As" to download a WEBM version. I hope that helps!
@danielkempe For recording quality, we are trying to find the best balance between quality, fps and processing load. A lot of our users are on Chromebooks, which struggle when we try to do full HD. It's definitely something we will continue to improve. Do you feel the current quality is unacceptable for your use case?
@ryankennedy Well, in terms of sharing something with a team member just to explain something, it's fine, but if I wanted to create something for users, I'd prefer HD as recorded quality for sure.
@danielkempe I understand and agree. We don't have many users that complain about quality, but regardless, we have big improvements to the quality in our roadmap! I hope you'll still try HYFY.
Hi there Product Hunt!
Thanks so much to @iwozzy for hunting us! I work on HYFY along with @nainish and @mdebonis.
HYFY Screen Recorder is the simplest way to record your screen and voice and share instantly anywhere your team works. Just click record and start talking. When you’re done, share it through Slack, JIRA or HipChat or just paste your video URL wherever you want.
HYFY is great for QA, Development and Support teams who work on bugs and incident reports, Product Managers who want to record demos, trainers and teachers who want to record a library of lessons, or Sales teams who need custom collateral.
HYFY does not depend on any plugins or applets like Flash or Java and works great on Chromebooks or Chromeboxes. Video recordings are stored locally during recording, then uploaded automatically to your HYFY library so they are ready for instant sharing via copy/paste of a link.
We also wrote a Medium article to explain our approach better: https://medium.com/hyfy/killing-...
We believe that HYFY is the fastest and easiest way to capture and share video of your screen.
I was looking for something to easily record examples of UI patters to share with my team. I'm really happy with HYFY. It's a simple, one click chrome extension which comes with built in Slack, HipChat and Jira sharing.
Here's an example of one recording: https://app.hyfy.io/v/abKTHGQOfG/
@engmsaleh@iwozzy No - opentest.co and HYFY are not related. We like OpenTest/OpenVid because we both have a similar approach to video collaboration - it's good validation that we might be onto something :-)

interesting - so far it has failed to render two of my videos and instead simply deleted them without a word... that's two videos gone to dust.. whats with that guys?
last night the first video i tested worked, which got me approval from management to use - then the 2nd test said rendering and simply deleted itself. no warnings, nothing.
i did two more tests today - others were last night - the 4min recording got deleted after saying rendering - but the 10second test worked and stayed.
Very cool! Reminds of Screenr O.B.M. I signed up to HYFY via Twitter using this page: https://app.hyfy.io/accounts/login/ (I got to it by clicking on the link shared in a different comment here and then navigating via the logo) and did not encounter any on-boarding. There was nothing to tell me where to get the extension or how to record of anything of that sort. :(
@avizuber Hey Avi - thanks for catching that for us - we'll get it fixed ASAP. Our onboarding is pretty cool so I really want you to see it! It should have linked you to http://www.hyfy.io/ where there's a nice big button! If you're still willing, please try again on our site or in the Chrome Web Store.
And if you need any help at all, live chat with me at http://www.hyfy.io/support

I really like how easy HYFY is to quickly record and share to people on our Slack team, and to clients via email etc. a very simple and fast way to show an issue, error, or demo a feature or how-to. Great product.
@skipshean Thanks so much for the comment. This is exactly why we designed HYFY!

Just tried HYFY Chrome extension to record a screencast. I must say I am a fan!
Excellent product. The fact that you folks provide the URL before the upload is complete is quite commendable.
@mrahmadawais Thanks Ahmad - we're glad you like it. Providing the URL ASAP is one of the things that makes it so fast to share a HYFY and we're glad you noticed :-)
