Most AI note-taking apps are glorified chatbots attached to documents. Zirn is designed to understand why information matters. It transforms scattered notes, research papers, web articles, and ideas into a connected knowledge system where AI understands context, relationships, and user intent. With local-first storage, personalized memory, knowledge-aware reasoning, and a dynamic Home that evolves with your vault, Zirn helps users build knowledge instead of managing folders.
I built Zirn because I loved the idea of Claude + Obsidian workflows, but I found them too clunky to set up and maintain. Getting AI to truly understand your notes often required plugins, APIs, custom prompts, and a lot of technical knowledge that most people simply don't have.
Zirn is my attempt to make that experience accessible. It's a local-first AI knowledge workspace that connects your notes, PDFs, articles, and research into a system AI can actually understand, without the complexity of stitching together multiple tools yourself.
This is my first public, and I'm building it in public. I'd love to hear your feedback, criticisms, and ideas for where it should go next.
