I went to a giant undergrad program in the Midwest, it was great. I learned how to go to, and throw parties. I learned how to lead, speak in front of an audience, and adapt to all sorts of situations But upon graduation, something happened... I could not secure a job, WHAT. quarter mil out of state for UNEMPLOYMENT. I went to a top 3 Business school for crying out loud. They taught me about Networking. Consulting. Finance. Accounting. All good stuff, but nothing about Product. No one. And I seriously mean NO ONE, told me about tech. The entire time. I vividly remember in the first week, them showing us the employment stats. 60% hired into finance, 30% to consulting. Thats great but.... Top 3 Business School guys, not teaching you how to break into tech. Stories like these, and programs like joincolab.io, give individuals highly relevant skills in the tech industry, filling in shortcomings you aren't even able to spot yourself. It's important to be nimble and adaptable in the tech industry, it moves way too fast for any large institution like a top 3 Business school to be able to keep up. The org structure of tech companies, Product Management, Design, Development, The nocode space, Automation, The value of Web Design that converts, UX Design, Product-Market Fit, Feature Identification and prioritization. ^This is whats relevant imo, and what you can learn from this book These guys are somehow keeping up with the constantly-morphing tech industry and spitting wisdom every step of the way. As someone who has studied within the STEM field (Software Engineering), the transition into tech isn't necessarily an easy one. I was incredibly new to programming and even felt very foreign to me. While I was lucky enough to land my first job out of college, my technical skills weren't being heavily leveraged and I found myself stuck. I needed to keep my programming knowledge and skills up to speed and I just wasn't getting that at my current place of employment at that time. I was fortunate enough to learn about Co.Lab | You Belong In Tech through LinkedIn where I got to meet Helen & Sefumi (the creators behind Co.Lab). Through this experience, I was able to really step into the shoes of a software developer and as a result of that, I ultimately became more confident in what I know and learned a lot along the way. If anyone is on the fence about whether they should join this program, I'd highly recommend it. From a developer's viewpoint, I didn't just learn about how to be a better programmer, but also how to collaborate effectively when working with a Product Manager and a UX/UI Designer. These are the type of skills that I've gained throughout my tenure here and you just can't get that same experience working on your own projects. Thanks again for the program @herenhuang @coppernauts !
