A while back I found a note on my phone that just said "call back about the quote". No name, no date, no context. I had written it myself, and it was useless. That is the whole problem. Note apps keep characters. They don't know who, or when, or where, and they never come back on their own at the moment you'd actually need them. So I built the opposite, closer to how memory really works. You say one sentence, it keeps several things out of it and links them together. "I saw Dr Guy on Thursday, blood test in three months" becomes a person, a date, a fact and a follow-up, connected to each other. The part I underestimated: WHEN the reminder fires matters more than the reminder itself. A fixed time is usually the wrong moment, so it also triggers on approaching a place, on tomorrow's weather, or at sunset. It's free at launch, and I'm building it solo. What I'd really like to hear: what's the last thing your phone reminded you of at completely the wrong moment?

Time is a bad trigger for most reminders. What else have you tried?

Building XNeuronal, the thing that kept coming back was this: a reminder at 6pm fires during a meeting and gets swiped away with a thumb. The information was right, the moment was wrong.

So the trigger follows the situation instead of the clock. A reminder can wait until you are within 500 metres of a place, until it rains tomorrow, until sunset, or until several days have passed without any rain.

The hard part was not the geofencing. It was deciding what someone should hear at the moment they set one up. A weather watch runs for months, so it is a promise you make once and then forget you made. The app now reads the threshold back out loud before committing to it: "I will tell you the first day the maximum goes above 25 degrees." That single sentence is the only moment anyone can catch a watch that would otherwise fire in November.
