Hey Product Hunt, I'm Matt, and I built Wrenfold.
I run a small bookkeeping and notary business in New Jersey. I kept watching people pay every month for budgeting apps that also hold every transaction they've ever made on someone else's servers. When Mint shut down, a lot of people lost years of history overnight. I wanted the opposite: a budgeting app you buy once, that keeps your data in a file on your own device.
What it does:
Tracks accounts, net worth, budgets, bills, paychecks, goals and debts
Imports bank statements (CSV, OFX or PDF), with rules that categorize for you. Linking banks is optional.
Makes encrypted backups you keep yourself, and exports everything to spreadsheets whenever you want
Works on iPhone (as a Home Screen app), Mac and Windows
What it costs: $79 once. Updates and support are optional at $5 a month. Cancel that and the app keeps working.
Honest tradeoffs: your phone and computer don't sync automatically, because there's no server holding your data. You move it with an encrypted backup. And it tracks and plans your money; it doesn't move money.
You can try it free in your browser with no account. Just open the app and start entering things.
I'd love your feedback, especially on what kept you on (or drove you away from) YNAB, Monarch or Mint. I'm here all day answering questions.
