I made this tool because wow’s design has always been a source of inspiration for me as a designer. The wow community is always super creative, so I thought it would be fun to share a way to create proper wow-looking tooltips— whether for RP purposes, servers-that-shall-not-be-named or just some meme worthy nonsense. In essence, it felt like something that should exist but didn’t.
Standout features:
• Build your own WoW Tooltip: The tool gives you complete control over everything a tooltip needs, and it returns a proper WoW-looking tooltip upon saving.
• Prompt-a-Tooltip: Describe your idea for a WoW spell, talent, or ability, and the tool will generate a first draft for you. I trained an AI to analyze 18,000+ WoW icons, assigning colors, shapes, and descriptions so the "Prompt-a-Tooltip"-AI can make an educated guess on an icon.
• UX: It’s browser-based and designed for an intuitive workflow. (The only other comparable tool I found was an .exe with limited options.)
• Edit and download: Download your tooltips as .png files or go back to tweak old ones.
It’s completely free— probably way too niche to monetize anyway— but it’s been a fun passion project that I hope to keep improving.
