Free, fully local voice typing for Codex, Claude Code, and every other Mac app. Dictate using fast, open-source models. No account, subscription, or cloud.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built **Wordmate** because I wanted the speed and convenience of tools like Wisprflow, but running fully locally on my machine.
**Wordmate is a free macOS voice-typing app.** 🎙️
Hold **Fn**, speak, and release to paste your transcription into the focused text field. Double-tap **Fn** for continuous recording.
It works with Codex, Claude Code, browsers, Notes, Slack, and practically every other Mac app 💻✨
Under the hood:
🎧 **Parakeet TDT v3** handles speech recognition.
🧠 Optional **Qwen3 0.6B** post-processing runs locally to improve punctuation and capitalization, remove fillers and stutters, and handle spoken corrections.
🔐 The models are downloaded once and then run entirely on-device. Your audio and transcripts **never leave your Mac**.
🛠️ I’ve also open-sourced the complete transcription pipeline:

This is the first public release and I’d really love feedback, especially around performance across different Apple Silicon Macs, microphones, accents, and workflows.
