Hi Product Hunt 👋 I write most of my work text in English and Ukrainian, often in the same paragraph, and I dictate a lot of it. Every tool I tried was either a cloud service I had to send client material to, or a local Whisper wrapper that quietly invented a number and left me to find it three days later. Witness is built around that second problem, which nobody seems to talk about: a dictation app that tells you where it isn't sure. Numbers, dates, currency, names, malformed words, negations and your own glossary terms get marked. Insertion is never blocked the text lands immediately, and an indicator lights only when something is worth a second look. You can replay just that fragment of audio, or pull the raw transcript back. The rest of it: Recognition runs on your Mac. Audio, transcripts, your dictionary, the clipboard and the names of the apps you dictate into never leave it. No account, ever. It types into whatever has focus - Accessibility insertion, clipboard fallback. Per-language dictionaries, for the words your field uses and no model knows. German, English, Russian and Ukrainian are the measured tier: cleanup and every risk signal were benchmarked against a corpus. Every other language the engine knows still gets recognition, with the unmeasured rules switched off rather than guessing. One utterance is one language. It will not follow you mid-sentence from German into English; switching is a keystroke. €99 once (two Macs, every v1 update) or €49 a year. 13-day full trial, the first 3 days without even an email, no card. Honest limits: Apple silicon and macOS 14.4+ only - no Intel, no Windows, no iPhone. The first run downloads a ~600 MB speech model, which is the longest wait in the product and happens once.
