WishOwl is a free wishlist app for friends and family. Paste a link from any store to save an item, share lists privately so gifts stay a surprise, claim items without spoiling them, pool money for group gifts, and run Secret Santa with exclusion rules and instant draws. No ads. No paywalls. Everything's free, iOS, Android, and web.
Hey Product Hunt š I'm Kenji, the maker of WishOwl.
I built this because every gift-giving season turned into the same chaos in my family group chat ā duplicate presents, "did anyone already buy X?" texts, a half-finished spreadsheet of who's chipping in for Dad's birthday, and a Secret Santa draw someone always forgot to update.
Existing wishlist apps either felt stuck in 2010, were locked to one retailer, or kept the actually-useful features behind a subscription. So I built the one I wanted:
š Smart wishlists ā paste a link from almost any store, it grabs the title, image, and price
š„ Friends-only sharing ā claim gifts privately so the owner is still surprised
š° Group gifts ā pool money toward a big item with pledges and a progress bar
š Secret Santa ā invites, exclusion rules ("don't match spouses"), instant draw
š Web + iOS + Android ā open a shared list in a browser, no account needed to view
The whole thing is free. No ads, no premium tier, no "unlock unlimited wishlists." It's funded entirely by optional affiliate links when someone buys a gift through the app ā you never pay, and you can always copy the raw URL instead.
Would love your feedback ā especially:
⢠Edge cases for Secret Santa exclusions you've run into
⢠Which retailers your gift URLs usually come from (so I can prioritize parsers)
⢠Anything that feels missing for your gift-giving group
I'll be in the comments all day š¦
