I’ve spent the last few months building WhyThere, a data-driven city comparison tool for people trying to figure out where to live or visit. The goal is simple: make it easier to compare real tradeoffs between cities without relying on vague rankings, travel marketing, or a dozen tabs full of disconnected stats. You can compare places side by side on climate, rent, home prices, walkability, safety, schools, taxes, air quality, and more. A lot of the recent work has gone into making the product feel clearer and more usable, especially as the amount of data and number of pages have grown. I’m especially interested in whether the compare flow feels useful, intuitive, and worth coming back to. Would love any feedback on the product, the interface, or the kinds of city decisions you’d want a tool like this to help with.
