Why did I build this?
I am planning to start my own startup, and for that I wanted to analyze YC startups. I wanted to know which sectors they are working in, what problems they are solving and what kind of companies are getting funded. But when I looked at the YC company directory, it only had each individual company and its information. It was really not easy to go through all the companies, compare them, ask questions in my own language and get the answers. That's why I built Whatstir to make this whole process easy.
What does it do?
It shows around 6,400 YC companies across 9 sectors in one treemap
You can ask questions in plain English and get answers that cite the companies behind them
You can compare two or three companies side by side and keep notes on them
The data refreshes every day
