Hey Product Hunt! 👋 The idea for ViewAnyFile.app started from a frustratingly simple problem — I kept receiving files I couldn't open. A colleague sent a .DWG drawing. A client shared a .HEIC photo from their iPhone. A designer delivered a .CDR vector file. Every time, I had to either install expensive software ($2,000/yr for AutoCAD?), ask the sender to re-export, or just... give up. It felt absurd in 2024 that this was still a problem. So I started building a universal viewer. Just a simple thing to open any file in a browser tab. Then it kept growing. I added IFC/BIM support because architects kept asking. Then STEP/IGES for engineers. Then a full SQLite browser, a 3D model viewer (STL, OBJ, GLTF, Blender), InPage support for Urdu typography, email viewers (EML/MSG), font renderers — eventually 400+ formats all processing completely client-side in WebAssembly. No uploads. No servers touching your files. No accounts. The part I'm most excited about right now: we just shipped AI background removal that runs 100% in your browser — zero upload, zero cost, unlimited. And it's wired directly into an inline Photopea editor so you can remove a background and immediately edit the result without switching tabs. The whole philosophy is: your files are yours. They should open instantly, privately, and free — without forcing you into subscriptions or cloud services.
