Hey Product Hunt, I'm Tom, founder of VidMaker Labs. Over the last few years, we've watched AI video tools become incredibly good at generating videos. But we kept running into the same problem: Most tools treat every video exactly the same. A testimonial follows the same workflow as a product review. A product review follows the same workflow as an educational explainer. An educational explainer follows the same workflow as a social media video. Yet in the real world, each of those video types has a completely different objective. That's what led us to build VidMaker. Instead of starting with templates, VidMaker starts with purpose. Users can provide a URL, article, product page, prompt, or media, then choose the type of video they want to create. From there, purpose-specific production engines determine the scene structure, pacing, visual logic, avatar behaviour, voice delivery, and production workflow required for that specific outcome. One of the biggest lessons from building VidMaker is that generating videos isn't the hardest part.

Understanding intent is.

A product review, testimonial, educational explainer, affiliate video, and brand campaign all have different objectives.

Yet many AI video tools process them through the same workflow.

That observation led us to rethink what we were building.

What started as an AI video project evolved into a much bigger idea: Video Production Intelligence.

Yesterday we launched VidMaker on Product Hunt, and the conversations around Purpose-Specific AI and production workflows have been incredibly insightful.

We're still early, but we're excited about where this journey is heading.
