Hi everyone! I’m Oleksii from Kyiv. I used to sell jewelry on Andriivskyi Descent, and today I’d like to tell you about my app, Vastelor Money.
I used to come home, count how much I’d made that day, then work out how much I’d saved in total. Often, the amount was lower than I expected. I was sure there had been more. I’d start trying to remember what I’d bought, what I’d paid for, and where else the money could have gone. I also had to remember how much the jewelry itself had cost me to understand how much I’d actually earned. I was keeping all of this in my head, and saving toward my goal wasn’t going very well.
I tried using similar apps, but they took a while to figure out. Even once I’d learned my way around them, some things still felt awkward in everyday use.
Eventually, I decided to build my own app. I wanted someone to open it and quickly find their way around, without long instructions or lots of settings to deal with. I wanted it to be comfortable to use every day, without spending extra time figuring out the app itself.
You can use it to track income and expenses, and if you’re saving for something, you can add a goal and follow your progress. When you don’t need the goal on screen, you can hide it and bring it back later. There are 20 goal illustrations to choose from, and you can customize your categories and icons too.
I also worked on button placement, making transactions quick to add, and smooth animations when opening windows. I wanted the app to feel good to use on a phone, tablet, or computer. It has light and dark themes, 15 languages, and 34 currencies.
You can use it in your browser or install it as an app. After online activation and the initial loading, it works offline. You enter income and expenses manually. Your financial data stays on your device and doesn’t automatically sync between devices.
